Out with the old, in with the new!

2018 was a great year for me. We Are Mars has been a success, in spite of it being a debut novel. More importantly, it has connected me with amazing people, the world over, who share a love of space and books. I couldn’t have asked for a more positive start to my career as a novelist.

In 2018, we saw many milestones achieved, and set, for space exploration and travel. We also saw a renewed interest in all things space-related. There has not been this much energy and excitement around the idea of humans in space since the first moon landing in the late 60’s. It is an exciting time and one I am thrilled to be a witness to. In my own way, I am living the space-geek dream by writing about it in my science fiction series, the Rubicon Saga. I wish I could see what my characters see, experience the alieness of a new world, or reach beyond the limits of our own tiny, blue marble. But, I am also happy to stay here and continue the fight to preserve our precious planet. In spite of the allure of space, very few of us will ever get to go, but all of us will have to stay here. We must fight for it and put our best effort into conserving Earth.

Looking forward into 2019, there will be much space science, exploration and discovery. People, and craft, are traveling further, discovering more and expanding our understanding of what lies out there in the universe. This year promises to be full of thrills and firsts, as well as continued efforts to further the projects and experiments already underway.

On the writing front, my readers and fans can look forward to the second instalment of the Rubicon Saga. Storm at Dawn is due for release mid-year. It promises to continue the thrilling and terrifying story of life in the ancient and struggling Rubicon settlement on Mars, with some surprising twists bringing the story into a final, desperate sprint to end in book 3, due late 2020. I hope you will be along for the journey. It will be worth the wait, I promise!
