My Sci-fi blog interview with author Andrew Friday at Sly Twin Tiger

It’s not always a good idea to answer the direct messages, or DM’s as they are colloquially referred to as, on Twitter. The reasons vary, but invariably, it’s a rabbit hole of spam and unwanted nonsense. Every now and then, though, someone contacts you and you feel a sense of genuine interest. You cautiously engage, and before you know it – you’re the subject of a blog interview!

Andrew contacted me with a few questions and I was happy to oblige. I enjoy the camaraderie I’ve found on Twitter, especially amongst the writing and science fiction community. Andrew is the author of a few science fiction books – Omniorb Consortium Episode 1 and 2.

As for the blog interview, you can find it at Andrew’s website .

I’m a firm believer that when you help and encourage other people, expecting nothing in return, just the satisfaction of knowing you did right by them is and should always be the pay-off. Anything more is just bonus. Andrew has helped me out with his blog post about me and my book and I thank him for his time and attention. The encouragement that even this bit of recognition for my efforts has generated makes me feel great and makes it seem that my book – my little indie-published, first-time novel will be something to someone.

You can buy We Are Mars on these websites: Amazon.com, Amazon.ca, Amazon.co.ukBarnes and Noble, Chapters Indigo, and more. You can also order it direct from me.

Enjoy the blog interview and enjoy the book!

I just finished We Are Mars. I enjoyed the story despite a couple of rough spots with punctuation (the section about Darius’ departure and arrival needs some proofreading). By the time I was finished I was genuinely disappointed that the battle was in the sequel. Is it true the sequel won’t come out for two years?

I have two WiP novels about creating a habitable Mars that has a very different vision but is also based on the notion that private enterprise in space is the way forward. You can learn more on my website before. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Hi Steve, thank you for buying and reading We Are Mars – most appreciated! I’m glad you enjoyed the book and my apologies for the errors – we all try very hard to make our books error-free, but sometimes, stuff slips through the cracks. I will make a note to get it sorted during a scheduled revision period later this year. As an indie author, I do the best with the resources I have available, including budgets for hiring proof-readers. I hope to be able produce a much higher quality product as I get more settled as an author. I am sorry you were disappointed about the prospect of waiting for the sequel to see how the battle plays out. When I constructed the plot originally, I was hoping to fit it all in one story, but it became too long to do so. The good news is, it won’t be a long, two-year wait! I am already working on Storm At Dawn and hope to have it out to Beta-Readers early next year. I would like to invite you to participate in that process, if you wish. You seem to have an eye for detail and have provided me with useful, honest feedback – qualities I look for in a beta-reader. Let me know if you’d like to do that. I will take a look at your website and what you are working on – thank you for inviting me.

Best of luck with your books!
